Avallon products all include a rating label that details basic product specifications as well as the model number and serial number.
Typically, the rating label is placed on the back of the exterior cabinet. Built in units usually include a duplicate rating label located within the interior cabinet - most often on the lower right hand side. The rating label is typically silver/grey with black writing.
When requesting service for your item, it is important to have this information available in order to more efficiently assist you.

In order to properly manage the warranty and servicing of our products, it is important that we verify ownership of a product. Items that are bought and subsequently resold do not maintain the same warranty entitlement that is granted to the original purchaser. The product warranty applies to the original purchaser only and only covers defects in workmanship experienced during operation of the product under normal service, maintenance and usage conditions. The warranty applies to the purchase and use of this product within the United States of America.
As such, in order to validate ownership, it is required that a valid proof of purchase be provided when requested. It is highly recommended that you register your product after receipt.
Returns are subject to the return and exchange policy of the authorized retailer or distributor where your unit was originally purchased.

While freestanding placement only requires a standard grounded outlet and leveling, professional installation is strongly recommended for undercounter built-in units, panel-ready models, and clear ice makers (which require water supply and drain line connections).
Allow your appliance to stand upright for a minimum of 24 hours before plugging it into an electrical outlet. During transit, refrigeration oils and lubricants shift into the cooling lines; letting the unit settle ensures the compressor operates properly and prevents cooling failure.
No. Freestanding units should not be installed under a counter or inside enclosed cabinetry.
- Different Ventilation Needs: Built-in units feature front-venting kick plates designed for tight spaces. Freestanding units vent heat from the back and sides, requiring open space to circulate air properly.
- Clearance Requirements: Freestanding models need at least 3″ of clearance on the sides and 5″ on the top and back.
- Risks of Improper Installation: Enclosing a freestanding unit restricts airflow and traps heat, which can lead to:
- Overheating and poor cooling (warm beverages)
- Increased energy consumption and continuous compressor run-time
- Premature component failure and costly repairs not covered by warranty
Need an under-counter fit? Choose a model specifically rated as Built-In.
- White Wines & Sparkling: 45°F – 50°F (7°C – 10°C)
- Red Wines: 60°F – 65°F (15°C – 18°C)
Tip: On Avallon dual-zone wine coolers, set the top zone cooler for ready-to-serve whites and the bottom zone warmer for reds.
Maximum bottle capacities are calculated using standard 750ml Bordeaux bottles. While standard spacing accommodates Bordeaux bottles, larger bottles (such as Pinot Noir, Burgundy, or Champagne) can be stored by staggering bottle placement or sliding out/removing one shelf to provide extra vertical clearance.
A Panel-Ready appliance is designed without a finished front door panel, allowing you or your cabinet maker to install a custom wood panel and handle that matches your surrounding kitchen or bar cabinetry seamlessly.
A Flush Inset installation means the front face of the appliance door sits completely flush and level with the surrounding cabinet faces and countertop overhang, creating a clean, integrated built-in appearance without protruding into the room.
There are a variety of factors that impact the ability of an appliance to cool and/or maintain a specific desired temperature setting. In general, an internal temperature variance of several degrees can occur depending on how recently the compressor completed a cooling cycle, how frequently the door has been opened/closed and the ambient temperature of the room or location where the appliance is installed. If available, use a thermometer to measure the actual temperature inside the unit.
Note that temperatures may vary from location to location within the interior cabinet, so taking several readings may provide the most accurate result. Also please note that air temperature inside the unit and liquid temperature of the stored contents of your refrigeration unit are not the same thing. To properly measure liquid temperature, a temperature probe or other style of liquid thermometer is needed.
Refrigeration appliances should be installed in locations where the ambient temperatures are between 50°F and 95°F. Operation outside these temperatures may result in lowered efficiency or cause other adverse effects such as difficulty maintaining temperature or the inability to reach a desired temperature. High levels of humidity in the room or location where the unit is operating can also impact the cooling performance of your appliance. If possible, try limiting the number of times the door is open and closed to minimize the amount of warm, humid air that can enter into the interior refrigeration cabinet.
When you place warm bottles and / or cans inside a properly cooled wine / beverage refrigerator or thermoelectric refrigerator, the internal air temperature may increase before adequate cooling can occur. The warm cans and bottles will increase the temperature inside the unit, and additional time will be required for the unit to properly cool. Depending on the size of the wine or beverage refrigerator you own and the temperature and volume of the newly added cans and bottles that have been added, it may take up to 24 hours for the unit to cool to the desired temperature level.
Avallon makes several units with a digital display. On these units, there is a “Power” button on the display. The buttons are very sensitive and can sometimes easily be bumped and turn the unit off. If this happens, you need to push and hold the power button for 3-5 seconds. It will turn right on.
Under normal operating conditions your wine / beverage refrigerator should not show signs of frost buildup. However, if your unit is located in an area that is subject to high levels of humidity there may be the possibility of frost occurring, typically on the back interior wall of the unit. This occurs as warmer humid air enters the inside of the unit faster than the humidity can be removed by the cooling system. If possible, try limiting the number of times the door is open and closed.
